Support the Center
Fund the science this coast will depend on.
Gifts let the Center work on the timeline the science demands rather than the short cycle of grants. Partners extend how much coastline it can cover. Volunteers keep instruments in the water.
Three ways in
Give, partner, or volunteer.
No single institution can address the full scope of coastal change. The Center works as a connector across universities, agencies, conservation organizations and engineering practices, and it needs neighbors as much as institutions.
Give
Every level of support keeps instruments in the water and data flowing, from a one-time gift to multi-year foundational support, and from a small monthly gift to a bequest.

If you run a university lab, an agency program, a conservancy or a coastal engineering practice, tell us what you’re working on. The Center’s study site lies between two inlets, with a weather station recording continuously, access to a tide gauge on the Figure Eight Island bridge, a drone lidar baseline of the beach under way, and current and wave instruments being installed. What that could mean for your work is under Working with the Center. We’ll tell you plainly whether it fits.

Help with beach surveys, instrument deployments and recoveries, and monitoring days at the inlets, staged from public access points. No experience required; training provided.

Who receives your gift
Gifts to the Center are made to the Northeast New Hanover Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 58-1652980), and may be designated for the Center’s work. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law; the Conservancy provides a written acknowledgment for every gift.
By check
Payable to “Northeast New Hanover Conservancy” with “Center for Future Coastlines” in the memo line, mailed to 4140 Parklake Avenue, Suite 525, Raleigh, NC 27612.
Donor-advised funds, stock, IRA
Ask your DAF sponsor to grant to EIN 58-1652980. Gifts of appreciated securities and IRA qualified charitable distributions are welcome; email funding@futurecoastlines.org for transfer instructions.
Employer matching and in-kind
Many employers match charitable gifts; search for the Northeast New Hanover Conservancy in your company’s program. In-kind support the Center can use: boat time, dock and launch access, drone and survey equipment, and field vehicles.
Bequests and planned gifts
Suggested language: “I give [___] to the Northeast New Hanover Conservancy, a North Carolina nonprofit corporation (EIN 58-1652980), or its successor, to be used for the Center for Future Coastlines or, if that program no longer exists, for the Conservancy’s general charitable purposes.”
Recognition levels
Sustaining Supporter
$1,000–$4,999Core annual support for field instrumentation maintenance and data management.
Field Campaign Supporter
$5,000–$24,999Supports specific field observation campaigns and graduate research assistantships.
Observatory Sponsor
$25,000–$99,999Named recognition of a monitoring station at the Figure Eight Coastal Observatory.
Founding Partner

Gifts of any amount are welcome and are recognized as Friends of the Center. Recognition levels are acknowledgments only: donors receive no goods or services in exchange for gifts, and recognition confers no role in the Center’s research design, data, review or publications. Named recognition of stations is subject to the Conservancy’s naming policy.
Field updates
Deployments, storm surveys, field notes: hear about them as they happen. An email list is coming; until then, ask to be added.
